You must...

| Be at least 16 years old. Donors who are 16 must have written parental consent. Download a parental consent form here. | |
| Weigh at least 110 pounds. (See new height/weight requirements for 16 to 18 year olds.) | |
| Be in generally good health and pass a mini-physical. We will take your pulse, blood pressure, temperature and measure the iron-level of your blood (there are foods you can eat to help increase your iron-level). You may donate blood even if you have allergies or are a diabetic on insulin.

If you:

| Made an apheresis (platelets) donation, you must wait 14 days before donating. | |
| Made a whole blood donation, you must wait 56 days before donating. | |
| Made a double red cell donation, you must wait 112 days before donating. | |
| Have had surgery with no signs of infection and did NOT receive any blood products, you may donate. | |
| Have been on an antibiotic for an infection, you must be off this medication for 24 hours before donating blood. | |
| Have a cold, flu, sore throat and/or fever, please wait until you are feeling better. | |
| Have been pregnant, you must wait six weeks after delivery, or one year after you received a blood transfusion before you can make a donation. | |
| Have had any tattoo, ear or skin piercing with a permanent earring or disposable needle and you have fully healed, you may donate. If you have had a tattoo or piercing by any other method, please wait one year. | |

You must wait one year to donate after you have:

| Received a blood transfusion. | |
| Visited or lived in a malaria zone. If you have emigrated from a country in a malaria zone, you must wait three years. |
