Virginia Blood Services is a nonprofit corporation funded primarily by processing fees paid by the hospitals it serves, which are reimbursed by insurers.

These fees do not cover all of the vital operational needs of VBS, and we rely on gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations to keep our fleet of vehicles up to date, our laboratory equipment state of the art and our blood donors well served.
